It still seems that a direct connection will work better than bittorrent in a
closed network. You simply won't have enough people connected to the same file
for bittorrent to achieve critical mass. If the internet were being used, there
would be a strong case for it, but since the internet doesn't come into play at
all, and the size of your network seems as though it will be relatively small, I
still think http or ftp, or maybe a secure transfer over ssh will work better
for everyone on the system. The transfer protocol would need to be something
that either everyone already has on their machines or something that could be
installed quickly and easily, preferably the former.
# are there any wireless access point that can run the OpenWrt software?
Someone else will probably need to jump on this one, since I'm really not very
knowledgeable about access points and the software they are capable of running.
The OpenWrt website may help as well. A quick search of Google pulled up a lot
of things about how to configure access points using OpenWrt and something
else called DDWrt, but no specific make/model is jumping out at me at this time.
