Ubuntu 8.04 LTS problem

Dear friend,
                 I am facing problem in Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop . The
problem is that when i am running any application or other software than my
laptop or Desktop getting black screen. After that i have to wait 5 to 10
minites and may be restart my pc after that  problem is solve  . But this is
not a solution . This is the big problem in my office . I done search in
google and other sites .But  i am not getting any good solution .
I done stop all service in sessions and close all service and remove all
unused software also.
please help me to solve that problem.
