gfortran module files for hdf5

the Ubuntu packages of hdf comes without FORTRAN language bindings
IIRC. Please correct me, if I'm wrong. If that is true download the
hdf5 source package and edit the debian rules file. Add
--enable-fortran or something similar to the configure command and
rebuild the package.
