sharing files between ubuntu computers

Can Ubuntu provide what I think is called Internet Connection Sharing
on Windows? If so then he could possibly wire the two PCs together
with a cross over ethernet cable and get the internet connection on
the wireless router on just one of them. The Internet Connection
Sharing then allows the other to get its internet through the first
one.
Fixing the routing issue would be better though if it proves possible.
