I'm using 9.10, setup automatic login, and then installed Kubuntu. I wish to be able to select which 'desktop' I want. I've tried 'system-administrator- login but am unable to "unlock" the selection key...What's the fix ??? Thanks in advance

Hasn't this issue been already addressed, for you I believe?
In any case, auto login will open the desktop last used so you will have to log out and select from a drop down menu on the left bottom section of the log in screen just what desktop you want to log in too. Then it will login to your selection. You have to go through this procedure any time you want to change what you auto login to.
