I'm guessing here as I use serial modem, but I think you should try
ttySHF0 (without path) first or maybe just modem, according to [1]

In my experience no, but I use serial modem.

If you want to print from any file (oowriter, for example) you are
better with socket. As mentioned in other post, you have to have
efax-gtk running for that.
You can change input to "file" within main efax-gtk window temporally,
if you need to.

Instructions you are referring to are a little bit old (2006), so
instead of HP JetDirect try -> Generic and from the next dialogue->
Model: Raw Queue -> Drivers: Generic Raw Queue.
Anyhow, in the printer settings, you have to have:
URI address: socket://localhost:9900
Manufacturer and Model: Local Raw Printer
and that is it.
Note: this is in Hardy, but I think in Jaunty it shouldn't be much
different.
