Empathy 2.28.0 error: "Name in use"

Hi,

After setting up Empathy and an account, Empathy 2.28.0 complaints:
"Name in use," similar to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EmpathyVsPidginUsability.
I cannot find a button to delete an account.
To troubleshoot, is it a good idea to delete ~/.mission control,
~/.gnome2/empathy and in gconf-editor /app/empathy?

In ~/.mission control/accounts/account.cfg I deleted the lines belonging
to one account, quit Empathy and reatarted Empathy. I still found the
two accounts in Empathy listed.
