They sort of do.

There are ones that are strictly personal and should be avoided, and
ones for development teams. For example Xorg bleeding edge or Firefox
3.5/6/7. etc.
Of course research carefully before applying them to your
sources, assume massive breakage or 'testing purposes only', risk of
data loss, must know exactly what you are doing, don't expect help from
here or anywhere else including from whomever owns the ppa etc.
