Ubuntu and static IP address

AsK for a fixed ip. i force my machines to use addresses i specify by
setting an association between a mac address and ip in my router (ok,
granted, i use sveasoft firmware in my wrt54g) i believe the sveasoft
rev i use is freely available now.
