     Many thanks! I did go to that web page. Been there several times in 
fact. Never noticed item 12 because I was trying to fix a problem with 
grub 2...

     I booted back up fine with grub 1 but I think menu.lst has only 
Lucid on it. Need to learn how to get the other systems added. Also 
there is still a lot of files in /boot/grub/ directory. I wonder if 
there is a way to tell Grub 2 files to disappear?
