Gnome borked after recent Lucid updates

This morning when I went to upgrade, the were metacity packages being
withheld from running apt-get on the CL. But from Update Manager, I was able
to do a prtial update and they installed.
Is this something to do with it?
When you say there will be an update soon enough, do you mean today/tonight?
And how do you know about this?
