I disagree. I do not think that it was either impolite nor especially
condescending. I merely replied to a hostile and confrontational
response to my earlier perfectly reasonable message pointing out that
the original post to the list was unreasonable and unhelpful.

I absolutely stand by my comments about the pseudonym and point to my
own signature, below, as ample comment & response to anyone who "wants
to keep [their] real name off the Internet".
