I’m not really sure how to answer.  It is an awful lot lighter.  I run  
Lubuntu on a 266MHz machine with 128MiB of 66MHz RAM, a machine that  
seriously struggles with Xubuntu.  It is, I suppose, like comparing  
Xubuntu to Ubuntu, you just get less of every thing. Have a look round
