But they do prefer SCSI & SATA. IDE/EIDE is an after thought for
consumers. Have a look at what comes in business class workstations, and
the numbers of each sold.

IDE is not a parallel port. And it has only 40 pins on the cable. 80
pin for the newer EIDE (?) format. SCSI drives use 50 pin cables.
Parallel ports are external 25 pin connectors.

This I agree with, but I couldn't follow your logic to this point.
