For File Sharing, this guide has a good description:

It is written for 9.10 (Jaunty?) not Karmic but is still pretty much 
valid.  Some things are a little different.  In my opinion the Using 
Nautilis section is easier than the first section.  I have not gone to 
Karmic yet, but I hear that when you right click on a folder to share, 
the pop up menu will not have "sharing" .  Look for "Properties" and 
sharing is inside that one.

Try that guide and, If you have problems, reply to the list with what 
you have done and what problem you are having.

I have run out of time this morning to answer about printers.  I will 
check back later today when I have time.  If no one has pointed you to a 
good guide, I will find the one I used.
