6 GB of RAM but just 4 working

Probably easier to check your BIOS settings than find your manual.
You should have a screen when booting that can be accessed through F2 or Del
or Esc keys.
If the BIOS only sees 4 GB, that tells you one thing. If the BIOS sees 6,
that tells you another fix is needed.
