It is needed for Evolution to do its job.
Every folder created needs support folders. As shown below a folder
always has support-folders.
n0jn at bsw:~/.evolution/mail/local$ ls
Drafts Outbox.cmeta
Drafts.cmeta Outbox.ibex.index
Drafts.ibex.index Outbox.ibex.index.data
Drafts.ibex.index.data Sent
EX2folders.db Sent.cmeta
folders.db Sent.ibex.index
Inbox Sent.ibex.index.data
Inbox.cmeta Templates
Inbox.ibex.index Templates.cmeta
Inbox.ibex.index.data Templates.ibex.index
Inbox.sbd Templates.ibex.index.data
LIST-folders zMSG-STORAGE
LIST-folders.cmeta zMSG-STORAGE.cmeta
LIST-folders.ibex.index zMSG-STORAGE.ibex.index
LIST-folders.ibex.index.data zMSG-STORAGE.ibex.index.data
LIST-folders.sbd zMSG-STORAGE.sbd
Outbox
n0jn at bsw:~/.evolution/mail/local$
I could find out the details of each folder by experimenting:
add or delete a folder, add or delete a message, use the Search and see
where it is stored, change sorting ... etc
......... see what happens
(Evolution is doing a good job, I leave it that way).
Knowing the details (of the folders and messages) provides some
interesting backup and move-to-new-installation possibilities.
Please keep your progress posted.
