Grub 1 on Ubuntu 104.

Hi,

Is it possible to install Grub 1 on Ubuntu 10.4

I am asking because I *need* Grub 1. So far all I can get is a Grub
error 15: file not found; and if I try to enter the commands by hand,
I end up with an infinite wait in mounting root file system.

My guess is that as Grub 1 changed the numbering of the partitions, it
may confuse the boot srcipts that are tailored for grub 2.
