Well, I am sorry if you took it badly but why did you take it badly?

Well, let us see...most recent Chinese achievements have been by copying
and use of what I would call slavery. How gratifying. Culture? WHAT
CULTURE? You know squat about China and what the 'Cultural Revolution'
did and you think you have a right to defend something you know next to
nothing about? The only thing that is left in China is the lousy culture
of pride, corruption and me first...oh wait, this is not exactly
peculiar to China today just maybe more hypocritical and evident at
that. You can guess what the 'Cultural Revolution' did to Chinese
knowledge. Hang on, you are not saying that I was making fun of you are you?

/me rotfl. I hope you do not actually believe that. If it is about
learning Chinese characters, then yes, they have no other choice but
that does not go for everything else. They learn by rote because that is
the only system in place with zero evidence that loads of homework and
endless memorizing actually produces anything good other than perhaps
being able to memorize an answer to a question and of course because
someone wants to maintain control over what is fed into the minds of
students.

Perhaps you can point out where I judged ANOTHER's culture, Mr. Glassman.

I bow to your superior chest of knowledge.

Does it mean anything if I got a piece of paper that is useless after I
get my foot in the door? For a job that earns less than those who have
never been to graduate school or for a job that is completely unrelated
to the subjects majored in? You know, I hear that plumbers make a real
good living...outside of China anyway.
