Per dafault Ubuntu does not install a firewall. You can check this by
calling:
sudo iptables --list
If there is no firewall running you should get something like the
following:
XXX at YYYY:~# sudo iptables --list
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
XXX at YYYY:~#
Have you checked what the wineHQ tells about the software?
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18126
And why don't you use a native windows P2P-Client? Do not know Soulseek,
but there are plenty of this clients available for linux. Years ago I
used mldokey, but do not know what are now the popular clients.
bests
