Facebook through aim

Is it possible to use facebook chat through aim with Pidgin or Empathy? If
facebook chat is using the same protocol as aim, it should be possible just
like I can add gmail chat contacts to my Jabber account. Last time I tried
the pidgin-facebook plugin, it was not working and was not planned on being
fixed until facebook was finished switching to the xMMP protocol. But as of
now, I see that it could be using the aim protocol here
