Hi Pete, I had the exact same problem in my Lucid Alpha computer. I
worried about it and went back to my old 8.04 version of Ubuntu and saw
the CPU use drop to 5%. Then in a day I went back to Lucid and was
surprised to see it was again low. So right now it is a usage of 2% and
it never gets above 20% no matter what. So look at yours right after you
reboot and it should be low.
