Sound issues

I have no sound issues with my 9.10 installation, however when someone
mentioned snd-hda-intel, I remembered that I had no sound when I had
installed 9.04 in my Acer laptop.

I had fixed it then by adding the line:

options snd-hda-intel model=MODEL



in 

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf



where MODEL one of the mentioned here:

I had NOT uninstalled Pulse Audio.
