   (and now, an actual ubuntu question.)

   about to decide on a new laptop and am considering the following:

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=1014183333L&vpn=LX.PLY02.057&manufacture=ACER

the primary appeal for me:

   * intel core i5 processor
   * 1600x900 display as i spend a lot of time reviewing/editing tech stuff
   * 4G of DDR3 memory, not just DDR2 (option to go to 8G)
   * *more* than big enough hard drive
   * HDMI port
   * absolute requirement of H/W virtualization support

the only weak spot i see is the onboard intel graphics. i'm sure it
will be adequate, but with that, there's no way this is going to be a
gaming system. as long as it handles everyday usage, though, i'll be
satisfied.

   to the laptop experts out there, do you see any fatal flaws in this
being a daily-use ubuntu 10.04 system? primary use will be massive
compilation tasks (kernel, openembedded, etc.). do you see any
obvious weaknesses?  thanks muchly.
