Re-installing Grub Bootloader.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 that dual boots with Windows XP as others use 
windows. The Windows drive had to be re-installed.

I ran the Ubuntu 9.10 disk and told it to repair the install. When I 
finally got to the option to reinstall grub bootloader. It kept telling 
me failed to install bootloader. I think it said error 1

I really don't want to have to reinstall Ubuntu. Thanks in advance;
