set FQDN for hostname

Err, no, no, ethtool has nothing to do whatsoever with FQDN,

Unfortunately, from my recent foray into this very same question, the 
current Ubuntu/Debian networking provides no way to explicitly define 
FQDN.  Rather, it's expected that you have correctly configured Reverse 
DNS and/or hosts file, and the FQDN can be derived from those.  If this 
does not satify what you are trying to accomplish, please be more 
specific about your end goal.... What exactly are you trying to achieve 
with your FQDN?
