says about the Novatel Ovation MC760: "On Ubuntu Linux 10.4, this device
just plugs in and works."

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1535798 indicates it works on
the Verizon network.

http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/DT6VahOYPAOj8xvg2v17 :
"I just purchased a Novatel USB760 Modem from Verizon. It says on the
Verizon website that it is compatable with Linux"

So, from this information and the suggestions from others it seems you
have a lot of choice :)

Good luck!
