I engaged the UTF-8 character set and all I saw was a series of
up-arrows - as in the left-, right-, down-, up-arrows on the group of 4
arrows on the keyboard.

What exactly were you trying to show by those "symbols"?

(I have tried to use the UTF-8 character set in days past but quite
often all I see is a dark diamond with a question mark in the middle of
it. So, I prefer to see some gobbledegook chars than these black
diamonds in subject headings and bodies of posts.)

Good heavens, why do you even need to ask?!

Of course not!

You are held in the highest respect by everybody here - and if this
sounds in any way ambiguous or a typical politician's saying nothing
when saying something, include moi in that "everybody" - so why should
I, of all people, try and aim something like that at you?
