Nvidia proprietary driver install problem

With the open source driver he won't have accelerated graphics. That's
kinda nasty. Just maybe he hasn't written out the /etc/X11/xorg.conf
file using the nvidia X settings app?? That should put him right.
Happened to me and that was the remedy. Ric
