Installing jdk?

Hello Fine LUG Members,

I just had a server crash and burn after running 24x7 for 10 years in
the middle of my Computer Science class. So, as a temporary fix, I
took a Student Station that already had the 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop
Edition running and quickly installed openssh-server and setup new ssh
logins.

Then I find that jdk is not installed So, I tried installing
openjdk-6-jdk only to get an error message about the file was not found.

Then I went ubuntu.packages.com to search for this file and was
directed to secure.ubuntu.com/ubuntu to the directory pool/main/o/
openjdk but the file would not download.

So, what am I doing wrong? Please help!

TIA,
