_Why_-questions usually aren't technical questions...

If the OP's question would have been: _how_ can I avoid Unity, then I
would be able to answer him. But _why_ questions do not compute on a
technical support list. One could always use sounder for _why_ questions.
And it's not my problem that the sounder list is shut down for the moment.
I cannot answer _why_ it was shut down, but I can answer _how_ and _when_
it can be put back to life.
