It comes from alsa-info.txt, but true, it shouldn't, it is probably
the HDMI sound output, nothing to do with an analog mic:
from hardinfo (functional Maverick 64 - will check on Natty):
PCI Devices:
Audio device nVidia Corporation MCP72XE/MCP72P/MCP78U/MCP78S High
Definition Audio (rev a1)
and
Loaded Modules:
snd_hda_codec_nvhdmi NVIDIA HDMI HD-audio codec
snd_hda_codec_realtek Realtek HD-audio codec

Nothing seems related to Natty, but I'll take a closer look at the procedures.
