No usb input devices on bootup

Running Ubuntu 10.04 on an Amd quad core with a gforce 9100.

Over the last  3 or 4 weeks intermittently I have no mouse or keyboard 
on bootup.  The mouse is a usb Keningston expert mouse, the keyboard is 
an old ps2 type plugged into a usb adapter. It seems to have gotten 
worse.  It happened the last 4 days in a row.  Unplugging and plugging 
them back in fixes the problem.

The only change I made to the system, other than ones from Update 
manager, is I added a second monitor which I operate using Twinview. I 
read through the log files in /var/log and the only one that seemed 
helpful ws Xorg.log.  The start of which is pasted below.

Are the last couple of line relevant to my problem?  If so what do I
