Ubuntu 11.04 broke my MacBook Pro

Al,

Thanks for the comments. I didn't do a dual-boot -- I let Ubuntu take 
over the entire disk. I tried to resize the OS X partition first, but 
the installer complained that it couldn't do it for HFS.

I understand the question-mark issue -- the problem is that the majority 
of the time I get just a black screen, no power-on tone, and no apparent 
activity -- it certainly seems like a hardware problem. If all I ever 
got was the gray question-mark screen I'd assume it was just a hard 
drive issue.

I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 several times with no incident on this machine.
