I considered doing something like that, but my desk at work is big 
enough to have another box sitting under it, doing nothing, turned off. 
Mostly turned off, it is mostly harmless. And I sometimes use that 
monitor on my notebook. When I am on my Linux box I can do Linux and not 
have any MS software on it.
