Speed of a USB Mobile Broadband 3G GSM within Ubuntu Desktop

Hi,

Is there a way to know the speed of a USB Mobile Broadband 3G GSM within
Ubuntu Desktop ?

I use speedometer but when i run, i get the below message.

$sudo speedometer -rx ppp0
/usr/bin/speedometer:21: DeprecationWarning: The popen2 module is
deprecated.  Use the subprocess module.
  import popen2

Please suggest ?
