using vsftp

At the time I was logged into the new ftp sever directly and trying copy files from a remote ftp server I'm replacing.

How were you copying? Just with cp? Or scp? Where were you logged into
to do the copy (scp from a remote box to this ftp server, logged into
the ftp server to scp from elsewhere)?

Can you verify that you're NOT copying to an executable file, rather than a directory? It happens.
