Does ubuntu has intel 1G/bits wire Ethernet driver?

No worries... now, as we've discovered, not everyone has ethtool
installed but they do have mii-tool, so you're at least half correct
:)

The mystery for me now is what did I install that pulled in ethtool,
that is common across all three of my systems... becuase we've
discovered that some people get both (at least I do) and some only get
mii-tool...

I thought it might be a proprietary driver install that did it, but
two of my systems use the OSS drivers, not the proprietary... Oh
well... learn something new every day :)
