One added note: the generic LO has an issue with video in Impress, see:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32852
for details and a workaround. You should only need to do the last:
$ sudo cp /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 /opt/libreoffice/ure/lib/
as RC4/Stable no longer uses /opt/libreoffice3
