Maverik kernel panic

I am attempting to install Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat on an IBM X3400 
with Serveraid M1015 or LSI MegaRaid 9240-8i (Same thing)

When I boot using the 64 bit boot disk I get this error. 

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS : Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0) 
Pid: 1, Comm: Swapper Not tainted 2.6.35-22-generic #33 Ubuntu

Any idea what causes this and is there a fix. Murray Thomson
