Changing Password for an Encrypted FS

Hello,

I installed Ubuntu Lucid and decided to encrypt my hoe folder. I chose a
password for the firs user while installing, but later realized I got one of
the digits wrong...

When I try to change my password using the 'About Me' applet, or from CLI
using the passwd command, I get an error saying the new password is too
similar.

When I use sudo passwd, it works, of course, but then I get permission error
on different files in my $HOME while logging in after a reboot...

How can I bypass the "Password too similar" error?

Thanks!

Amichai.
