Seems to me like you answered your question while asking it? Either way
lets play diagnostician.  What version of Ubuntu? Is it 64bit? There are
known performance issues with 11.04 64bit and Flash right now, it even
manages to slow down my computer and I have 32GB of memory and an i7 980x.
