I think that was the point in asking if this was an official cattle call
for more testers by the Alpha team. Some people might install and be
doing themselves more harm than good, feeling compelled to do so by your
"announce". Otherwise, if they don't test the alpha, they do not "want
to help Ubuntu out" following that emotional appeal logic. Read Eric
Raymond's "The Cathedral and the Bazaar". Those that wish to do a thing,
will. There is usually no need to ask, unless something mission critical
was happening and then it would come from the steering committee of that
project. Best leave that sort of thing to them, as it is their show,
with their set of goals and guidelines. So, since that kind of announce
is out of the ordinary, you were asked for credentials. is the way I saw
it. No harm, no foul. :) Ric
