installing eclipse 3.6 on ubuntu 10.10?

  actually, i *was* using sun's java and getting the same error, so i
switched (using update-alternatives) to openjdk, which does not appear
to have made any difference.  i'll poke around more on the eclipse
forums to see if i can glean anything.
