I'm not an expert, especialy if you are using Gnome, but you should describe a
little better "how" it does not let you login again.
I don't know much about locking, but could it be that your user requires
special permissions?
_If_ it means your user password is not accepted, then when you get to the
CLI, can you then login?
If yes, I in your case would first enable the root account, login as root, try
to change the user's password and see if it works.
if not, I would edit /etc/shadow to remove the password, login and set a
password again.
