Kiwi, that is my experience as well.  In all cases where Grub 1 was used
I had to add an entry in menu.lst to boot Windows (95, 98, 98SE, ME). 
That was an easy task though and took just a couple of minutes.  With
Grub 2 we have been at this for a day!  While Grub 2 may have some great
advantages, ease of modification does not seem to be one of them.
