If you are in the San Francisco bay area I'll give you 1, or 2. or 3.

Also keep in mind that sometimes a blinking cursor doesn't always mean
the system is borked. On a low memory, slow machine it may take awhile
before the system gets to the final boot stages. Give the machine a few
minutes (sometimes as long as 10 or more) & see if it eventually comes
up. Delays in aquiring a network connection can be part of the issue, so
give it a wait & see if it eventually boots.

Just so that everyone knows what the machine looks like (hardware-wise):
$ sudo lshw > davescomputer.txt
$ gedit davescomputer.txt
copy & paste that to http://paste.ubuntu.com/ and give us the url.
