Sorry if I've arrived late to this conversations, but has anyone mentioned LocalApps which is built in to LTSP? It's very easy to set up and means that you can choose certain applications, such as Firefox for example, to run locally on the thin-client workstation. This means that if Firefox is running locally, then flash content and videos from youtube run on the workstation rather than the server. It's pretty elegant and helps relieve load on the server.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTSPLocalAppSetup
Works well here on 64 thin clients running from one server.
