Thanks Lucio. I feel a bit of a fool now, but its because Unity
separates the menu bar from the window and doesn't show it until you
mouse over them. If it was like the old style Gnome windows, I would
have had 'Server' staring me in the face. (I wonder where I can make
that point to the Unity developers).
I did find the Samba config (very late last night) and got the printer
enabled by making printers browsable in that.
