ok well in my qemu XML config file i had

    <interface type='bridge'>
      <mac address='6e:16:64:86:7a:10'/>
      <source bridge='virbr0'/>

so i just changed that to br0 and that seems to have done the trick.
now what is virbr0? that seems to be useless now, and it wasn't defined
in /e/n/i

still need to figure out why networking isn't starting/working
automatically upon system start...

thanks all
